Construction: Individually hand-shaped in Britain.
Glass Specification: Double 4oz deck with a single 4oz bottom, creating a beautifully balanced construction that delivers lively flex without compromising durability. Additional inlays and reinforcement patches are added where required, ensuring every board is built to withstand years of everyday surfing.
Fin Configuration: Traditional 4 + 1 setup, allowing riders to fine-tune the board with a classic single fin or add side bites for increased drive, hold and responsiveness as conditions change.
Construction Options: Available with custom resin tints, pigments and bespoke artwork.
Designer's Notes:
The Sumou started with a simple question.
Could one board genuinely cover more conditions than almost anything else in the rack?
Rather than building a specialist board that excelled only in perfect waves, we wanted to create a design that encouraged people to surf more often.
Every curve, every rail and every contour exists to maximise enjoyment rather than chase specialisation. The balanced glass specification keeps the Sumou feeling lively beneath your feet, generating speed naturally while maintaining the durability expected from a true everyday surfboard.
The traditional 4 + 1 fin configuration perfectly complements that philosophy. Ride it as a pure single fin for smooth, flowing lines or add side bites when the surf becomes punchier and you want a little more drive and control.
The Sumou has quietly become the backbone of the Tokyo collection. Not because it demands attention, but because it consistently earns its place in surfers' cars, vans and board bags.
If we could only build one model, this would probably be it.
