Tokyo Futago – Mischief
The Tokyo Futago is a modern twin-fin built around one simple idea — surfing should feel fast, loose and a little bit mischievous.
Developed by Lee Willoughby and Bill Atlee, the Futago carries the speed and freedom of a classic twin while adding enough refinement and control to make it a genuinely versatile everyday board.
The outline uses subtle hip bumps to reduce the area around the tail while extending the effective rail line. This allows the board to carry generous volume without becoming difficult to turn, giving it a lively response when you move onto the rail.
The medium-to-high nose rocker combines with relatively low tail rocker to create an interesting balance: enough lift and curve to handle steeper sections, but plenty of speed through flatter parts of the wave.
Underneath, single concave flows into double concave and then V through the tail, helping the Futago accelerate while keeping the board loose and responsive.
The result is a twin that doesn't need perfect waves to be fun.

Tokyo Futago Pin – Trouble
The Futago Pin takes the same underlying DNA and turns the volume up when the surf gets better.
The pin tail and refined channel bottom give the board a more focused feel, increasing speed, release and hold while allowing the surfer to push harder through turns.
Where the standard Futago thrives in smaller, playful surf, the Futago Pin is the version you reach for when there's more face to work with and you want the board to hold a line through faster sections.
The Twin + Trailer configuration complements that extra performance, allowing the board to retain the freedom of a twin while the trailer provides additional control and drive when you need it.

Design Philosophy:
The Futago evolved from the idea that a twin-fin doesn't need to be a nostalgic recreation of a seventies fish.
We wanted the freedom, speed and effortless acceleration of a twin, but with a more modern approach to outline, rocker and bottom contours.
The hip bumps are an important part of that process. By reducing the area around the tail and extending the rail line, they allow the board to carry useful volume without sacrificing responsiveness.
The Futago Pin takes that philosophy one step further.
Its pin tail and channel bottom provide additional control and release, creating a more performance-focused version for surfers who want to take the design into faster and more powerful waves.
Both boards share the same fundamental idea:
Give the surfer speed, then get out of the way.

Designer's Notes:
The Futago was developed for surfers who enjoy the feeling of a twin but don't necessarily want to ride a traditional fish.
It's about speed and freedom, but with enough refinement to keep the board interesting when you start surfing more critically.
The swallow-tail Futago is the more playful member of the family. It loves smaller waves, quick direction changes and long, fast lines across the face.
The Futago Pin takes that same idea and gives it a little more authority.
The channel creates additional release and speed while the pin tail provides extra hold when you're pushing harder through a turn.
The two boards have different personalities, but they share the same underlying philosophy.
Mischief when the waves are playful. Trouble when they aren't.
