Tokyo Kumaddo – Piranha
The Tokyo Kumaddo isn't a fish you reach for because you want an easy day. It's a fish with teeth.
Designed by Lee Willoughby and Bill Atlee, the Kumaddo takes the speed and freedom of a traditional fish and pushes it firmly into the territory of serious performance surfing. This is an out-and-out quad fish designed for stronger waves, tighter pockets and surfers who want to push a fish much harder than the usual small-wave funboard allows.
The outline has been deliberately refined around performance. A pulled-in tail, narrowed swallow tips and a more curved outline allow the Kumaddo to fit into the pocket and turn tighter in the critical part of the wave.
It carries the speed and acceleration you'd expect from a fish, but with a much more focused response beneath your feet. Drive it through a long carve, throw it into a tighter turn or set the rail and let it run — the Kumaddo is built to stay composed when the wave starts getting serious.
This is not a twin that happens to have four fin boxes.
The Kumaddo is designed as a quad from the ground up. Its bottom contours and concaves are built specifically around the four-fin configuration, creating the drive, hold and control that define its character.
And when the wave stands up and the section starts throwing, that's when the Kumaddo really earns its name.

Design Philosophy:
The Kumaddo was designed around a simple idea:
Could we take the speed and freedom of a fish and give it enough performance to genuinely attack a good wave?
Rather than making another wide, flat, playful fish for weak summer surf, we wanted something more focused.
The nose has been pulled in. The swallow tail has been narrowed. The outline carries more curve. Together, these changes allow the Kumaddo to fit into tighter sections and respond more positively when the surfer moves onto the rail.
The quad configuration is fundamental to the design. The bottom contours have been developed specifically around four fins, allowing the board to generate speed while maintaining drive and control through harder turns.
The result is a fish that retains the unmistakable acceleration and freedom of the genre, but has the composure to be taken into stronger, more critical surf.
It isn't trying to be a groveller.
It isn't trying to be a twin.
It's a performance quad fish with a serious bite.

Glass Specification: Double 4oz deck / single 4oz bottom in S-glass. S-glass provides a lighter, stronger construction while keeping the board fast, responsive and agile beneath your feet.
Construction Options: Available with custom resin tints, pigments and bespoke artwork.
Designer's Notes:
The Kumaddo was never intended to be another easy-going fish.
We wanted to build a fish that could be taken into waves with real power and still give the surfer the speed and freedom that makes fish designs so addictive.
That meant tightening everything up.
Less area in the tail. Narrower swallow tips. More curve through the outline. A bottom designed specifically around the quad setup.
The result is a board that can generate huge amounts of speed without becoming difficult to control when the wave gets steeper.
The S-glass construction complements that approach perfectly. Double 4oz on the deck and single 4oz underneath keeps the board light and lively while providing the strength needed for serious surfing.
This is a board for the surfer who looks at a proper set coming through and thinks:
Yeah. I'll take the fish.

Wave Size: chest to over head 3–8'.
Wave Type: Powerful beach breaks, reefs and points with enough face and energy to exploit the Kumaddo's speed and turning ability.
Skill Level: Advanced.
Best For: Experienced surfers wanting a high-performance quad fish for stronger, more critical waves.
Not Designed For: Surfers looking for a small-wave groveller, a soft-wave fun fish or a twin-fin alternative.
